SMS Contest raises funds
for helpline
By Chin Mui Yoon
A SPECIAL short messaging service (SMS) contest organised
in July in conjunction with the movie SWAT raised RM2,495
for the Community Support Network’s SupportLine.
The contest was organised by the movie’s distributor
Buena Vista Columbia TriStar Films (M) Sdn Bhd.
The company’s sponsor and partner UnrealMind
Interactive Sdn Bhd business executive Mark Yeo said
the contest was a good way for young people to spend their
money on a good cause.
Community Support Network (CSN) president Datuk Ruby Lee
said the SupportLine would be launched in January in conjunction
with the CSN Charity Bazaar.
The SupportLine is planned for people to get help from
people within their own community. It would connect callers
in need to resources they are seeking. Its first phase will
cover illnesses, accidents and disabilities while its second
phase would cover a larger scope.
“We need RM100,000 to make it a long term project,
so I urge volunteers to help us or to contribute financially,”
said Lee.
Present during the cheque presentation ceremony was CSN
board member Rani Retnam and vice president Khatijah Sulieman
and Buena Vista Columbia TriStar Films (M) Sdn Bhd marketing
manager Hee Dominique.
